(un)Spring Cleaning: 5 Tips for Organizing Your Bathroom

Signal Mountain Tenant Organizing Her Bathroom DrawersSomething that most Signal Mountain renters will find challenging is keeping a bathroom organized. A bathroom that’s organized is one that’s easier to maintain. And, it even helps in your morning routines! Clutter will only bring about feelings of anxiety or frustration. An organized bathroom, however, promotes relaxation! But, in order for you to get all that from an organized bathroom, you have to be willing to put in the work! Here are a few tips that can help you organize your own bathroom.

Declutter

In order to get started on an organized bathroom, it is a big must to declutter. Most of us need to realize that we have way too many things inside our bathrooms, a lot of which are not being used at all. For this reason, it’s a wise decision to look through all of your cabinets, drawers, or shelves, to find out if there are any items that should be disposed of. If it’s expired, it’s going straight into the trash — it’s that simple. Pack similar items together and take stock of what you have. If you find items are duplicated that haven’t been used in the past year, get rid of them. Whatever items you have left can then be kept and organized.

Categorize to Organize

Once decluttering is done, it is now time to start categorizing. This lets you organize the items faster and better. If this bathroom is only for you, then you can categorize it according to your routine needs. For example, you may want to set up a shelf, bin, or drawer for your morning routine and then another for the evening routine. If the bathroom is not just for you, though, then you can assign one caddy per person so that they can store their personal items there. The caddies can be placed on a shelf or cabinet.

Invest in Clear Storage Containers

One of the biggest reasons that lead to a disorganized bathroom is when no one knows where each item is supposed to be. To steer clear of this, you can make it easy to find items by using clear storage containers. After categorizing your items, you can store them in these containers. Shallow drawer organizers can be great for keeping toothbrushes, makeup, and other small items neat. For taller containers, they can be used to divide items according to types for shelves and cabinets.

A Place for Everything

As you re-organize your bathroom, an essential step is to designate a place for each of the items kept in the room. In so doing, you can prevent clutter from happening all over again. Another tip is to keep things off of the bathroom counter. Instead, go for bins, drawers, and baskets. Make sure to label your storage containers, as well. It helps keep everything in place so that you can easily find items when you need them.

Use Your Space Effectively

Bathrooms are often cluttered because they are small. Usually, there’s not a lot of space to work with, and that can be very challenging for most of us. Still, no matter how small the space, there’s almost always some unused space inside your bathroom that can be utilized. Hooks behind doors, storage containers attached to the cabinet doors, and the space above the toilet are all potential storage areas. You can try to maximize the use of these spaces to keep your bathroom clean and organized.
